Referee Training Courses

The next course has just started at the Rushall Olympic Football Club, Dales Lane (off Daw End Lane), Rushall, Walsall, WS4 1LJ, during July 2009.  The actual dates are as follows:-

(a) Thursday 25th June - Introduction, Administration & Enrolment Session, 7-00 p.m. to 9-30 p.m.  All candidates should bring, with them, proof of date of birth (birth certificate, passport, medical card, driving licence, etc. - original document only - no photocopies).  Candidates, aged 18 or older, need to bring additional documentation in order to complete a Criminal Records Bureau check (See 'Frequently Asked Questions' page).  Coursebooks and pre-course reading will be issued at this session.  Payment of the course fee should be made here, also.

(b) Thursday 9th July - Theoretical aspects of Law, 7-00 p.m. to 9-30 p.m.

(c) Sunday 12th July - Practical Refereeing, 9-30 a.m. to 4-30 p.m. (Bring packed lunch)

(d) Sunday 19th July - Practical Refereeing & Exams, 9-30 a.m. to 4-30 p.m. (Bring packed lunch)

Originally, this was intended and scheduled to be a week-end course (Friday evening to Sunday tea-time) but Rushall Olympic's pre-season training and matches made that impossible.  However, it does mean that candidates can still qualify as trainee referees very quickly.

To enrol, please inform Bob or Stuart (see below) of your wish and asking any questions, that you may have, at the same time.

The Team is offering "Safeguarding Children in Football" workshops and distance-learning sessions to enable young referees, and those older referees renewing their qualification, to complete the guide.  A certificate from one of these workshops is compulsory for ALL referees.  If you are an existing referee, who needs to obtain this certificate, or or a prospective referee who will need the certificate, in order to start refereeing, then please e-mail Bob or Stuart (see below).  Similarly, if you need a Criminal Records Bureau check (also now compulsory for all referees and prospective referees, aged 18 or older) before being able to referee,   then also e-mail the team.

Whom should I contact?:- Either Bob Thomas, by e-mail or by telephone (01922 611543) or Stuart Winton, by e-mail or by telephone (07970 845715).  Contact by email is preferred, where possible.

Please read 'Frequently Asked Questions' first or return to the home page or register your interest in forthcoming courses.
